Temporary Visitors
UK Residents
Patients who are not registered with the practice, but are staying in the Sid Valley area temporarily, will need to fill out a 'Temporary Residents' form to receive treatment from the practice for the duration of their stay. Patients can register temporarily for up to 3 months.
Overseas Visitors
Patients who reside in a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) will need to pay for the treatment provided by our practice, unless your country of residence has a reciprocal agreement with the United Kingdom. If you require treatment or medication and you are required to pay, you should then claim the costs back via your insurance company.
Overseas Visitors requiring an urgent doctors appointment
Patients that are required to pay for treatment will need to call the surgery and complete the temporary resident form (over the telephone). Once the form is completed and we have registered you on our computer system the doctor will call you back for an initial telephone consultation. If an appointment with the doctor in the surgery is required then they will arrange an appointment for you.
The fees payable for urgent doctors appointments are £10 for the inital telephone consultation, then a further £30 if an appointment is required with the doctor at the surgery. Payment must be received before the consultation in the surgery with the doctor. Only cash OR cheques made payable to the 'Sid Valley Practice' are accepted.
Please note that these conditions also apply to British nationals living abroad.
If you are in the area for less than 24 hours and have an accident you can receive emergency treatment at this practice. However, it should be remembered that this is not a casualty department and if it is thought that an X-Ray is required the patient should be taken straight to hospital.
The Sidmouth Hospital which is adjacent to the Sidmouth Health Centre, has a Minor Injuries Unit open from 10am - 6pm daily with a nurse trained to deal with most cases presented.
