Medical Ward
The Sidmouth Hospital has been completely rebuilt internally as a result of the Comforts Funds work and the older style large open wards have been replaced with a combination of single, double and four bay wards.
These rooms are fully adapted for medical needs and have en-suite bathrooms. The hospital is used for adult general medical patients, terminal care and day-case procedures. There are plans in the latest hospital wing to provide day case chemotherapy with the support of the Exeter Oncology department. Patients are often transferred from The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital prior to their planned discharge date to continue their treatment locally and arrange discharge back into the community with the additional input of the nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapist. A Minor Injuries Unit is open within day-time hours.

The hospital clinical management is under the care of our Modern Matron, Emma Bagwell (above). She supervises the staff of several nursing sisters, general nurses and assistants.
